How to Delete a Page in Word

Remove an unwanted page in Microsoft Word — including that stubborn blank page at the end.

  1. Click anywhere on the page you want to delete

For a page with content, you'll select and delete that content. For a blank page, you're usually removing a hidden break.

  2. Turn on formatting marks to see what's there

On the Home tab, click the ¶ button. Now you can see paragraph marks, page breaks, and section breaks that are pushing content onto an extra page.

  3. Select the page's content or break and delete it

Click just before the unwanted content, hold Shift, and click at the end to select it — then press Delete. To remove a page break, click right before it and press Delete.

  4. Fix a blank last page

A blank final page is often one empty paragraph that won't fit above. Select that ¶ mark and shrink its font to 1pt, or delete it. Turn formatting marks back off when you're done.
