How to Quit Vaping

Quit nicotine vaping for good with a quit date, trigger plan, and proven cessation support.

  1. Pick a quit date within two weeks

Choose a specific day soon enough to stay motivated but far enough to prepare. Write it down and tell a friend or family member so you're accountable.

  2. Identify your triggers and make a plan

Note when you vape most — driving, stress, after meals, with coffee. For each trigger, plan a replacement action like chewing gum, drinking water, or a short walk.

  3. Consider nicotine replacement or support

Patches, gum, or lozenges can ease withdrawal; ask a pharmacist or doctor about dosing. In the US, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW or text a free quit program for coaching.

  4. Remove all devices and supplies on quit day

Throw out every vape, pod, charger, and spare bottle. Having none on hand removes the easy option during a craving, which typically peaks for only 3 to 5 minutes.

  5. Manage cravings and expect slips

Use the 4 Ds: Delay, Drink water, Distract, Deep-breathe. If you slip, don't quit quitting — note the trigger, reset, and continue. Most people need a few attempts to succeed.
