How to Remove Command Strips

Cleanly remove Command adhesive strips without damaging your walls.

  1. Pull the tab straight down slowly

Grip the pull tab at the bottom of the strip and stretch it slowly downward, parallel to the wall — never pull outward or at an angle.

  2. Stretch until the strip releases

Keep pulling slowly and steadily. The strip will stretch to several times its length before cleanly releasing from the surface.

  3. If the tab breaks, warm it first and try again

Apply a hair dryer on low heat for 30 seconds to soften the adhesive, then slide dental floss behind the strip to work it off the wall.
