How to Set Up CarPlay

Connect your iPhone to your car's display with Apple CarPlay for maps, calls, and music.

1. Confirm Siri and CarPlay are enabled

   On your iPhone, open Settings, go to General then CarPlay, and make sure Siri is turned on under Settings > Siri & Search. CarPlay requires Siri to function.

2. Put the car's infotainment in pairing mode

   Start the car and set its screen to the CarPlay, Apple CarPlay, or wireless-pairing/Bluetooth setup mode. Check the car's manual if you can't find it.

3. Connect by USB or wirelessly

   For wired CarPlay, plug the iPhone into the labeled CarPlay USB port with an Apple cable. For wireless, hold the voice-command button on the steering wheel, then pair via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi when the phone prompts you.

4. Accept the on-screen permissions

   When the iPhone shows the CarPlay prompt, tap to allow access while locked. The car display should switch to the CarPlay home screen with your apps.

5. Arrange apps and test it

   In Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car to customize the app layout. Then test Maps, a call, and music to confirm audio routes through the car speakers.
