How to Zoom Out on a Computer Screen

Fit more on screen when everything looks zoomed in — in your browser or system-wide.

  1. Zoom out a web page

Press Ctrl and the minus key (Cmd+minus on Mac) to shrink a web page. Press Ctrl+0 (Cmd+0) to snap back to 100%. Or hold Ctrl and scroll the mouse wheel down.

  2. Shrink everything on Windows

If the whole screen looks too big, go to Settings > System > Display and lower the "Scale" percentage (e.g. from 150% to 100%).

  3. Shrink everything on a Mac

Go to System Settings > Displays and choose a "More Space" scaled resolution to fit more on screen.

  4. Reset accidental magnification

If a screen magnifier got switched on, press Windows key + Esc to turn off Magnifier, or on Mac press Option+Cmd+8 to toggle Zoom off.
